General Fishing

Catering to the individual needs of clients, we excel at instructing the novice, young or old, how to hook and land his or her own fish. We also accommodate the preferences of the veteran fisherman with a complete range of fishing techniques and the finest tackle and equipment. We can accommodate an individual, a couple, a family, or a group of any size.

The waters in front of El Gouna and Hurghada are the primary fishing grounds for the northeast coast of the Red Sea . El Gouna itself faces a major rift of the continental plates of Africa and Asia and ranging from one to four drop off's and can vary from 20m to 1400m For this reason, our run time to deep, blue-water fishing is only (30 to 40 min.) is less than that of other locations.

Although we have excellent fishing year 'round, our peak seasons are June through March, as fishing takes place directly in front of El Gouna often only a 30-minute run away. Our full day charters move offshore in search of giant trevally large dolphin fish, yellow fin tuna, sailfish, and black marlin. From January through March the weather is characterized by high onshore winds, which frequently preclude deep-water fishing in front of El Gouna because of rough seas. Full day charters run 30-60 minutes to the north or father south to find calm waters, which are protected from the wind by reefs and islands. Generally speaking, the major bite of migratory species is from June through February. Marlin and Sailfish are only generally available during the summer months from July through November when the water is warmer but have been caught as late in the year as December. All species mentioned above, and more, may be caught at any time of the year.

All Captains are experienced professionals, and as a group represent the most comprehensive body of local knowledge of these waters available in the Red Sea . Our primary concern is conservation. Catch-and-release is practiced on all billfish with food species the practice is catch what you can eat and release the rest. We need and welcome any support offered for conservation efforts in order to protect the incredible resource we share.

NOTES:

  • Full day charters leave at 08:00 AM and return at 5.30 PM
  • Full Day charters include all fishing equipment.

Please feel free to bring your own fishing tackle.

Fishing Methods

Live bait such as a small barracuda or a hearty small mullet will produce the most King Mackerel. It is best to troll them and give them a second or two after the take before setting the hook. Trolling Rapalla's or similar lures will also take King Mackerel. This usually produces the smaller fish in the 15 to 20 pound range. Like wise Bally Hoo are the ideal bait for Sailfish. Fly fishing for bonito and small yellow fin tuna can be great fun especially when drift fishing through a school of these little buties. When they take one, however, it is a battle to be remembered for a lifetime.
